FUUSIO Merges City Theatre and City Library in Oulu
Light Artist Kari Kola engineers an artwork of light called FUUSIO (Fusion) for Valoa Oulu! -Light Festival on 20th — 29th November, 2015. The two significant cultural buildings in Oulu, City Theatre and City Library, are transformed into one unified ensemble of light art in which light responds to the movement of people.
In this piece, Kola uses strong colors and contrasts but its tempo is tranquil. The trees between the buildings are colored with static lights. A gentle, nearly ethereal ambient soundscape binds together the whole artwork. In addition to this, Kari Kola will illuminate the City Theatre tower with lighting depicting the Aurora Borealis. The light art ensemble is meditative by its nature.
FUUSIO can be experienced daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Valoa Oulu! -Light Festival.
Valoa Oulu! -Light Festival will take over the surrounding areas of Oulu market square, City Library and City Theatre during 20th November — 29th November, 2015. This northern light festival is arranged for the third time. The festival attracts circa 20 000 visitors every year.
The renewed market square and Oulu landmarks, such as City Theatre, City Library and Kivisydän- underground parking area, will be shining as the focal points of the event. The programme for Valoa Oulu! -festival is now more versatile than ever before.
