Kari Kola illuminates an island in the city centre of Prague
Light Artist Kari Kola produces a light art installation titled Magical Garden to Prague’s SIGNAL Festival. The installation will be placed in a unique setting on the Shooters Island in the middle of Vltava River. The park-like island is transformed into a magical wonderland with soundscape and light art. – I want to create as great contrast as possible compared to the normal state of the island and highlight the familiar park in a new way for the residents. When they enter the park, the people concretely “pop up” in the middle of a mystical wonderland. I am creating a comprehensive experience through light and sound, says Light Artist Kari Kola on his artwork.
SIGNAL Prague Light Festival was first arranged two years ago and it has become one of the most popular cultural events in the Czech area. There were 600 000 visitors last year in the event. In 2015, there are 20 different light artworks of which Kari Kola’s piece is a grand-scale environmental installation. The festival covers a wide section of Prague city centre during 15th -18th October.
SIGNAL Light Festival is an International Year of Light event.
