Magical Garden – 360-degree light artwork for GLOW Light Art Festival
Light Artist Kari Kola has developed a new edition of a 360-degree light artwork titled ‘Magical Garden’ specifically for GLOW Light Art Festival in the Netherlands. For this edition of the artwork, he deliberately chose a bleak parking area as its location. By utilizing light art and soundscape — an analogy of sound and landscape indicating an acoustic environment — he transforms the parking area into a magical wonderland. The greenspace are highlighted and accented by the Artist. ”The lighting of an open, nearly empty space is challenging but that is exactly why this location is so fascinating. I want to create as a great a contrast as possible to the original state of this area in order to bring out a completely new environment”, says Kari Kola. ”My work is based on endless testing of limits and continuous learning of new stuff. I have never created light art onto a parking area, so the implementation of this edition will be a lot of fun”, smiles Kola on his future artwork.
From 12 until 19 November 2016, Eindhoven will be all about Light Festival GLOW. Around 40 Light Artists have created light installations, sculptures, projections and performances. Together they offer the GLOW visitor a surprisingly new perspective on the city. The light artworks are connected by a walking route.
